Parent Support Counseling
INDIVIDUALS & COUPLES
Being a parent in today’s world is tough.
Maybe you are noticing…
You are struggling with postpartum depression or "baby blues".
You are overwhelmed and exhausted to deal with household chores, curfews, schoolwork, and attitudes.
You feel like your child or teen is spending too much time using their electronics, social media, or in their room.
You have already tried yelling, spanking, time-outs, pleading, taking everything away, grounding for months on end and nothing has worked.
You feel like your child or teen is not taking responsibility and you worry about their future.
You are concerned about your child/teen worrying too much or being sad, or withdrawn and you are doing everything in your power to help them feel better, but is not enough.
You don’t how to help your child or teen feel confident or help them stop being pessimistic about everything in life.
You don’t know how to handle questions, behaviors, and changes your child or teen is facing as they grow.
You find it very difficult to maintain a cooperative parental team with a current or ex-partner.
You feel lost and tired of the everyday routine desiring more in life or just need emotional support and someone to talk to.
If any of these things are true for you, don’t be discouraged, you are not alone! you are in the right place. You deserve to feel heard.
MY APPROACH WORKING WITH PARENTS
Seeking out therapy for parenting issues can be intimidating as you might think that you are not a good parent. The truth is that no one teaches parents how to be one. To make things more difficult, every child is different, they have different personalities, ways of learning, and they grow at their own pace. However, with the help of therapy, it is possible to learn supportive tools and strategies to help you be a better parent.
I provide a space for you to safely navigate the world of parenting and support your capacity to “respond”, rather than “react”. It is all about growing as humans while we grow our little humans.
My approach to therapy is individualized for the parent I work with. Whether you are facing emotional or behavioral challenges with your child or teen, I am here to help you.
In parent therapy, common goals may include:
Stress management
Effective communication
Building connection
Boundaries/ limits setting and consequences
Learn how to balance your need with your child’s need
Skill-building: perseverance, self-esteem, optimism
Understanding what behaviors are developmentally appropriate for children/teens
Problem solving and collaboration
Healthy ways to co-parent
As a therapist, I can help you learn ways to improve your self-awareness, self-regulation, effective communication, parenting techniques, and improve your overall relationship with your child or teen.
I also enjoy working with blended families or with step-parenting, grief, and loss.
My primary goal is to help you DISCOVER, GROW, AND TRANSFORM!
You are a wonderful and capable parent.
I’M HERE TO SUPPORT YOU IN EMBRACING THAT.
